The Kids Design Build has commenced! We are so excited to announce that the 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP build, to be mostly directed by our Patient Design Team at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, is off and running! The first step was to replace the 17-year-old wheels and 13-year-old tires with a brand new set of 19-inch MMR GT1 staggered wheels and brand new Hankook Ventus V12 tires. Discount Tire donated and installed this nearly $3,000 package and we cannot thank them enough! (We would have preferred to have the kids choose the wheel and tire package, but with the current tires showing dry rot, we needed to swap them out for safety reasons as this car has many more stops to make along its restoration journey.) We also need to recognize Wheel Specialists, Inc. who donated the custom machining needed to perfect the fitment — WSI has been a huge supporter of our builds for over a decade! Next steps are maintenance items, a donated BC Racing suspension, engine tuning and performance upgrades and any needed body work before the kids take over. As mentioned, our team of PCH patients will get together and choose the color and style of a donated vinyl wrap, a donated leather interior, a donated sound system and other bits and pieces. Once completed, we will sell the car and every penny will be donated to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Please see what we do on our Facebook page, and also at www.wheelzthatheal.com. We are always looking for sponsors and are especially looking for vehicle donations from owners, dealers and collectors. Again, thank you Discount Tire for your extremely generous support!!!
